Melanie tour in March

THE Melanie (Safka) tour has been confirmed for March.

The tour kicks off in Melbourne on March 6 and 7.

The tour announcement came in a letter from the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, California.

It came with a photo of the artist, a record company biography and a letter saying Campus Entertainment was promoting the tour.

The letter said to contact the promoters for any more information.

But after contacting the number given, we found that the tour announcement had preceded the promoters' return by about two days.

Is coming

Melanie Safka, the American songbird of the early 1970s, will tour Australia nest month.

Melanie, who is probably best known for her Top 40 hits like Candles in the Rain and Look What They've Done to My Song Ma, will open her tour at the Dallas Brooks Hall in Melbourne or March 6 and 7.

From Melbourne she will move to
Perth (Concert Hall, March 15)
Brisbane (City Hall, March 13)
Sydney (Town Hall March 21)
Newcastle (Civic Centre, March 22)
and Canberra (Canberra Theatre, March 24).

Although the tour details were finalised this week, a spokesman for the promoters didn't know what musicians if any would be accompanying her.

The only details available were that her husband (who doubles as manager) would be coming with her.
